Namaquasan Bioactives
2026Sourcing Intelligence & Supplier Qualification Platform
2 min read
Namaquasan Bioactives sells certainty about functional botanical ingredients, not the ingredients themselves. That meant building two evaluation systems side by side: one that grades an ingredient itself against clinical, regulatory, and supply-chain evidence, and one that qualifies the suppliers who grow and process it. I designed and built all three public surfaces this required.
What started as a single supplier-intake wizard grew, across engagements through 2026, into three connected products for the same client: the intake and review system, a public Botanical Intelligence library, and the marketing site tying them together.
the problem
Procurement and R&D teams sourcing functional botanicals face two unsolved evaluation problems at once. The ingredient side: chemical profiles shift between harvests and extraction methods, regulatory treatment differs by country and end use, and no shared standard exists to compare one botanical against another. The supplier side: qualification ran on email threads and spreadsheets, so specifications, certifications, and compliance documents arrived unstructured and were hard to compare or audit.
what I built
Built three connected surfaces on one Turborepo monorepo. The supplier-intake app is a guided wizard with document uploads, magic-link authentication, scoped re-entry links, and an admin dashboard scoring every submission on Quality, Scale & Supply, and Compliance. The Botanical Intelligence library is a CMS-backed directory of ingredient profiles, each carrying a computed scorecard, clinical evidence graded by study strength, a country-by-end-use regulatory grid, and a downloadable sourced PDF report, all editable by the admin team without touching code. The marketing site explains the company's positioning and funnels buyers toward the library and suppliers toward the wizard.
my role
Sole developer across architecture, database design, the botanical-intelligence data model and admin CMS, frontend, auth, email flows, and deployment for all three surfaces, working directly with the client through structured feedback rounds across 2026.
what it does
- Multi-step supplier intake wizard with validation, document uploads, and progress saved to resume later
- Magic-link authentication for suppliers, with scoped re-entry links to update a submission without a new account
- Admin review dashboard scoring every submission on Quality, Scale & Supply, and Compliance
- Botanical Intelligence library: a searchable, filterable directory rated the same way across clinical evidence, compound chemistry, regulatory status, and supply risk
- Per-end-use readiness scorecard (Enterprise Ready, Pilot Viable, Upgrade Needed) rather than one blanket rating
- Regulatory status broken out by country and end use, with every rating traced to a cited, downloadable report
- Admin CMS for the intelligence library, so new botanicals ship without a code change
results
- Shipped three connected products, supplier intake, a graded botanical intelligence library, and the marketing site, for one client across 2026
- Replaced email-and-spreadsheet supplier intake with a structured, scored pipeline
- Every rating in the intelligence library ships with a sourced, downloadable report behind it, no claim without a citation
